The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology offers a well structured full time, 3 Year intensive training program which would enable the trainee to pursue am Academic, Research and Hospital based career after completion of the training. The training is undertaken in Saveetha Dental college, Saveetha Medical College and rotational training in Oncology centre in the campus.
Saveetha Dental College manages high volume of inpatients and outpatients and post graduates are exposed in the medical management of wide range of mucosal lesions, facial pain, oral oncology. The Maxillofacial Imaging centre is fully digital and students are well trained in Radiographic diagnosis and reporting of various maxillofacial images like RVG, Panaromic, Skull and CBCT imaging. Training in Head and neck CT , MRI, Ultrasound is being given at Saveetha Medical college. Training is also given in carrying out high quality research which includes basic research, clinical, translational research and systematic reviews.
The Unique training program offered only in the Oral Medicine department of Saveetha Dental college is Special care Dentistry program which allows oral medicine and radiology post graduates to assess , evaluate, liaise with medical consultants and deliver dental care and maintain oral health of medically compromised patients, patients with special needs like Physical, Mental and Intellectual disability , Oncology patients and Geriatric Patients. This has opened avenues for post graduates to take up hospital based consultant jobs after completion of training
